Spring Break

3-28-2008

Just got back from Joshua Tree National Park. I took a much needed break from my work and training schedule and went camping/ rock climbing with my wife and kids for a week. We had a great time and managed to come back with a few good photos and no broken bones!

I'm an Uncle....again!

3-18-2008

His name is Conner and he was born on March 15th. We where hoping for a St. Patrick's Day baby but he decided he wanted out a few days early. Nevertheless there where lots of toasts made and Guinness drank on behalf of Conner on the 17th in the Murphy and Sullivan families.

Starting A New Business

2-15-2008

I've been really busy the last few months helping my wife and two of her friends start an organic consulting firm. They currently work as private contractors for a number of organic certification companies as site inspectors and between them have a pretty broad range of experience and contacts in the industry. Since more and more agricultural and livestock production facilities are going organic there's a void in the area of how to make the transition to organic. They've already landed a few small clients and have a very large tequila brand in Mexico showing interest in using them, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that they get the contract because it would be some serious $$$. I'll post a link to their website when I'm finished building it.

Xterra 2008

2-15-2008

After last years disappointing finish in the xterra triathlon I decided to step it up a notch and fully commit myself to finishing in the top 15 amateurs. I started a 20 week training program in December and I'm about half way through it. It consists of about 2-3 hours a day, 6 days a week and to say it's brutal is an understatement. An average week consists of 150 miles on my bike plus a 20 miles/running and 5 miles/swim...My wife thinks I'm obsessed. I am :paranoid:

Bad company can corrupt the character.

Since the forum topic closed, I'll answer you here if you don't mind.
- "What wrongs has he righted? I'm not aware of any."

Currently he is working on the relationship between Russia and the US. He does many things internationally, many things for the enviroment, lately at the G8 meeting in Italy I think. He closed Guantanamo, he is pulling all the troops out of Iraq. If I looked into it a little more I could tell you more details, but that's just off the top of my head

:icondvusmind:
1) I'd like something more tangible than "working on" the relationship with Russia. That says nothing at all.

2) Guantanamo Bay is still open and won't be closed anytime soon.

3) What does he do internationally? Name a few things. be specific.

4) He's made some lofty promises on his plans for the environment but have yet to see any accomplishments.

5) He's not pulling the troops out any faster than McCain or any other candidate had suggested. His original plan was to pull them out sooner. Now it's 2010 which is in line with what most other candidates where saying.

I only saw these things on various news sites, mainly one. I'm no expert at all mind you, I just know that it's wrong to say that he is completely inactive..

1 - Try this article, I just googled it. [link] But I do know that he wanted to seal some deals about nuclear disarmament between russia and the US, and he wanted to talk communism, try to change their minds a little, or open their minds. He wants to improve the relationship, that's not been done by anyone since the cold war.

2 - yes it is still open, but the closing date is set, I don't think it's untill next year. We are already taking some of the prisoners here in europe, I know england is taking a large amount, so is my country possibly. Looks this up if you dont believe me, It's been in the news for a long time. This is again just google, i can't be bothered to verify the contents. [link]

3 - Again I am no expert, these thing I just hear on the news. I know he made several things happen at the G8 top meeting in Italy, tried to set up deals between countires regarding the climate primarily. He has spoken with a number of nation leaders, France, Germany and Columbia being some of them. On a sidenote, he is also opening borders to cuba again, allowing export.
Try this link, it's photojournalism. [link]

4 - You should know that the enrioment isn't something you just change, he's still got a long time in the white house, give the man a chance? He is doing more than you know though, I am sure.

5 - It's not really relevant wether he is doing it any faster than the other candidates said, is it? We wont ever know if it's true or not. They have already been pulled out of all major cities in Iraq, and relocated to Afghanistan instead, 21.000 troops if you want a number. Check this link for some photojournalism on the subject. This was all on schedule, even. Full withdrawal is scheduled for the end of 2011.

I'm not saying I'm not giving him a chance. I just don't think he's any different than any of the other politicians. Lots of promises, few results.
